Manchester Jewish Museum will host the Jewish Theatre Company when they show Jack Rosenthal’sclassic comedy “The Bar Mitzvah Boy”. This production coincides with the final week of MJM’s exhibition “Jack and Maureen – A Creative Partnership”.
First broadcast on 14thSeptember 1976 during season 7 of the BBC’s “Play for Today”, the Bar Mitzvah Boy tells the story of reluctant bar mitzvah boy Elliot who runs out of the synagogue just before he is supposed to read a portion of the Torah in Hebrew and become a man in the Jewish faith.
Jack Rosenthal who was born in Cheetham Hill won a BAFTA for “Bar Mitzvah Boy”.
This production runs at Manchester Jewish Museum in Cheetham Hill from 3-5 June at 8pm and Sunday 9 June at 3pm and 8pm.
